Imagicon is a science-fiction- and fantasy-convention. SF conventions have been organized since 1937 (in England and the USA) and in Sweden since 1956. The idea behind attending an SF convention is meeting other people who are also interested in science fiction and fantasy and listening to talks and discussions about SF and related subjects. For this reason, the convention has two hearts; the program and the bar. We who organize this kind of event call ourselves SF fandom. Click here to read more about fandom.

Imagicon is also the 2006 Swedish National SF convention, Swecon.

Swecon 2005

This is the ninth annual national SF convention. There were three conventions called Swecon in Stockholm in the 1980s, but they have nothing to do with the national convention, they were just using the same name. (The name Swecon is part of a bigger tradition; the corresponding conventions in the other Scandinavian countries are, for example, called Dancon, Norcon, and Finncon.)

The Swecon is chosen from among one or more bidding convention committees every year, one year in advance, by popular vote at the current Swecon. As an attending member of Imagicon you get the opportunity to decide which convention bid that becomes Swecon 2007!
